Word Meanings:

  • Yanqalibu — returns, turns back, or goes back.
  • Ila ahlihi — to his family or loved ones.
  • Masrooran — rejoicing, delighted, filled with joy and happiness.

Explanation of the Verse:

After the believer is given his record of deeds in his right hand — a sign of divine acceptance and success — and after he undergoes an easy and lenient reckoning, he returns to his family in Paradise, rejoicing. This joy is not merely a fleeting emotion; it is the deep, abiding happiness of one who has been saved from punishment, granted Allah’s pleasure, and reunited with his believing loved ones in the eternal abode of bliss. He is delighted with what Allah has prepared for him — gardens of everlasting delight, rivers flowing beneath them, and the company of the righteous. His heart is at peace, his face is radiant, and his soul is content, for he has attained the ultimate success.

A Da‘wah Reflection:

This verse paints a beautiful picture of the believer’s end — a scene of pure joy and reunion. Imagine the moment when you meet your loved ones again, not in a temporary world of trials, but in an everlasting paradise where there is no sorrow, no fear, and no parting. This is the promise of Allah to those who believe and do righteous deeds. It is a promise that should fill every Muslim’s heart with hope and motivate them to strive in obedience to Allah. The happiness described here is not like the fleeting pleasures of this world; it is a joy that never ends, a happiness that is pure and untainted. So, dear reader, let this verse inspire you to draw closer to Allah, to hold firm to His Book, and to live a life that leads you to that moment of returning to your family — not in this world only, but in the eternal gardens of Paradise, rejoicing forever.

Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand,
He will be judged with an easy account
And return to his people in happiness.
But as for he who is given his record behind his back,
He will cry out for destruction
