Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Dhul-‘Arsh (ذُو الْعَرْشِ): The Owner and Master of the Throne — the Supreme Throne that encompasses all of creation, signifying His absolute sovereignty and dominion over everything.
- Al-Majeed (الْمَجِيد): The Glorious, the Most Noble — the One whose essence, attributes, and actions are characterized by infinite majesty, honor, and perfection.
Explanation of the Verse:
This verse describes two of Allah’s magnificent attributes: He is the Owner of the Throne, meaning He alone possesses and governs the greatest of all creations — the Throne that arches over the heavens and the earth. This establishes His absolute kingship and supreme authority over all that exists. The second attribute, Al-Majeed, affirms that He is the Glorious One whose glory reaches the highest degree of perfection — in His essence, His names, His attributes, and His deeds. His glory is not merely a title; it manifests in His boundless mercy, His unmatched wisdom, and His infinite generosity toward His servants. He is the One whose majesty fills the hearts of the believers with awe and reverence, while His beauty draws them closer in love and devotion.
This verse comes as a reassurance to the believers who face hardship and persecution: the One who owns the Throne of the universe is fully aware of their struggles, and His glory guarantees that justice will prevail. The One who is Majestic in His power is also Majestic in His mercy — He does not abandon His righteous servants, nor does He let the wrongdoers escape His grasp.
A Call to Reflection and Action:
When you realize that the One who holds the Throne of the heavens and the earth is also the Most Glorious, your heart finds peace. No matter how overwhelming your trials may seem, remember that your Lord is greater than any difficulty you face. His throne encompasses everything, and His glory surpasses all that you can imagine. So turn to Him with confidence, knowing that the Majestic King hears your prayers, sees your tears, and rewards your patience with what is far better than anything this world can offer. Let this verse fill you with hope, strengthen your faith, and inspire you to live a life of gratitude and obedience to the One who deserves all glory and praise.
