Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- سَيَذَّكَّرُ (Sayadh-dhakkaru): He will be reminded, take heed, or receive admonition.
- مَن يَخْشَىٰ (Man yakhsha): The one who fears (Allah) — i.e., the one who holds awe and reverence for his Lord in his heart.
Explanation of the Verse:
This verse carries a profound and comforting promise: "He who fears [Allah] will be reminded." It means that the one whose heart is filled with the awe of Allah — the one who is conscious of standing before his Lord on the Day of Judgment, and who dreads the consequences of sin — that person is the one who will truly benefit from the reminders, the warnings, and the guidance sent down through the Prophet ﷺ.
The verse highlights that the purpose of the Qur'anic admonition is not lost on those who possess sincere fear of Allah. Such a person listens with an open heart, reflects deeply, and allows the words of Allah to transform his life. He is the one who turns back to his Lord, repents from his mistakes, and strives to draw closer to Him. This fear is not a paralyzing terror, but a loving reverence that drives him toward obedience and away from disobedience.
In contrast, the next verse (which follows this one) mentions the "most wretched" one who turns away from the reminder — the one who has no fear of Allah and no concern for the Hereafter. So this verse draws a beautiful distinction: the key to benefiting from divine guidance is a heart that fears Allah, and that fear is a gift from Him.
A Da'wah Reflection:
Dear reader, this verse is a gentle invitation to you. It tells you that if you find within yourself even a small spark of fear of Allah — a concern for your fate, a desire to do good — then you are among those whom Allah promises to guide and remind. That spark is a sign of life in your heart. Do not extinguish it. Nurture it by listening to the Qur'an, by reflecting on the wonders of creation, and by turning to Allah in supplication. For the one who fears Allah is never left astray; Allah Himself takes care to remind him, guide him, and lead him to success in this life and the next.
The Prophet ﷺ said: "I am the most knowledgeable of you about Allah, and the most fearful of Him among you." So true fear of Allah is not a burden — it is the path to peace, wisdom, and eternal bliss. Open your heart to it, and you will find that every reminder becomes a light for your journey.
