Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Khabeer (خبير): Fully Aware, All-Knowing of the innermost details, nothing escaping His knowledge.

Tafsir (Explanation):

This concluding verse of Surah Al-'Adiyat delivers a profound and sobering truth: On that Day—the Day of Resurrection—their Lord is indeed fully Aware of them. Nothing about His servants is hidden from Him, not their deeds, not their intentions, not the secrets buried in their hearts. The verse emphasizes that Allah's knowledge is not limited to that Day alone; He has always been and will always be All-Knowing. However, the specific mention of "that Day" highlights its unique significance as the Day of Recompense—the moment when every action, every word, and every hidden thought will be brought to account and met with perfect justice.

This verse serves as a powerful conclusion to the Surah, which opens with the striking imagery of war horses charging into battle, panting and striking sparks, symbolizing human haste and ingratitude toward Allah. After describing humanity's intense love for wealth and worldly possessions, the Surah culminates in this warning: the Lord knows everything about you, and you will face Him.

A Da'wah Reflection:

Dear reader, let this verse awaken your heart. The One who created you, who sustains you every moment, is fully aware of your struggles, your silent prayers, and your hidden good deeds—just as He is aware of every misstep. This is not a message of fear alone, but of hope and accountability. If you have done good, even the size of an atom, He knows it and will reward it abundantly. If you have erred, His door of repentance is open, and His mercy encompasses all things. Let this knowledge transform you: live with the awareness that you are always in His sight, not to feel burdened, but to feel honored. You are never alone, never forgotten, and your efforts are never lost. Turn to Him now, before that Day arrives, and let your heart find peace in the One who knows you completely and loves what is best for you. Islam calls you to a life of purpose and consciousness—a life where every breath is an opportunity to draw closer to your Lord, who is, indeed, Khabeer—Perfectly Aware of you at all times.

But does he not know that when the contents of the graves are scattered
10وَحُصِّلَ مَا فِي الصُّدُورِ
And that within the breasts is obtained,
11إِنَّ رَبَّهُم بِهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ لَّخَبِيرٌ
