Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Al-Karrah (الكَرَّة): The return of victory, dominance, and superiority over the enemy.
- Amdadnakum (أَمْدَدْنَاكُم): We increased and multiplied your provisions and resources.
- Nafir (نَفِير): The number of people who rally and mobilize together for a cause—referring to strength in numbers and manpower.
Tafsir (Explanation):
O Children of Israel, after the period of punishment and defeat you endured at the hands of your enemies—who were sent against you because of your corruption and transgression—you turned back to Allah in sincere repentance, humbled yourselves before Him, and sought His forgiveness. In response to your return to righteousness, Allah restored your honor and granted you victory over those very enemies who had overpowered you. He returned to you your strength, your dignity, and your dominance.
Moreover, Allah increased your wealth after it had been plundered, and He blessed you with many children after your people had been taken captive. He multiplied your numbers and made you far greater in manpower and military might than those who had once subdued you. This was a direct consequence of your repentance and your renewed obedience to Allah—a clear demonstration that when a people turn back to their Lord with sincerity, He turns to them with mercy, forgiveness, and restoration.
A Da'wah Reflection:
This verse carries a timeless and powerful lesson for every believer: no matter how severe the trials, defeats, or humiliations we may face—whether due to our own sins or the oppression of others—the door of repentance is always open. Allah does not abandon His servants when they return to Him with broken hearts and sincere intentions. He is Al-Tawwab (The Accepter of Repentance), and His mercy can transform the lowest point of our lives into a new beginning of honor and victory.
Imagine the state of the Children of Israel: their wealth was gone, their children were taken, and their numbers were diminished. Yet, when they turned back to Allah, He reversed their entire situation. This is the promise of Allah—He does not change the condition of a people until they change what is within themselves (Qur'an 13:11). So, no matter what hardships you face today, know that your Lord is closer to you than your own jugular vein. Turn to Him, humble yourself in prayer, seek His forgiveness, and trust in His promise. He can restore what you have lost, increase what you have, and grant you victory over every obstacle—just as He did for the Children of Israel when they repented.
Let this verse inspire you to never lose hope in Allah's mercy, for His power knows no limits, and His generosity has no end. The key is sincerity in turning back to Him—and when you do, you will find that He is always ready to welcome you, uplift you, and grant you more than you ever imagined.
