Tafsir (Explanation):
O Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), Allah commands you to call upon Him with this profound supplication: "My Lord, cause me to enter a truthful entry and cause me to exit a truthful exit." This means: make every entrance I make—whether into a city, a situation, or a phase of life—be for the sake of truth and righteousness, and make every exit I take—whether leaving a place, a circumstance, or a trial—be likewise sincere and pleasing to You. Let me never be two-faced or hypocritical, but rather let my every movement, coming and going, be rooted in honesty and devotion to Your will.
This dua was particularly significant for the Prophet (peace be upon him) during the migration from Makkah to Madinah—exiting Makkah, the city of oppression, and entering Madinah, the city of support and safety. Yet its meaning extends far beyond that moment: it is a timeless prayer for every believer to seek Allah’s guidance in all transitions of life, whether entering into a new job, a marriage, a journey, or leaving behind a sin, a harmful environment, or a difficult phase.
Then the verse continues: "And grant me from Yourself a helping authority." This is a request for a decisive proof, a compelling argument, or a supportive power from Allah Himself—something that will aid the believer against those who oppose the truth. For the Prophet, this meant the divine revelation and the strength of the Muslim community that stood with him. For every believer, it means seeking Allah’s support in upholding justice and truth, and asking for the wisdom and courage to prevail over falsehood with clear evidence and righteous action.
Da'wah Message:
This verse teaches us a beautiful and powerful lesson: that a believer turns to Allah in every step of life—before entering and before leaving, in the small and the great matters. It reminds us that true success lies not in merely moving from one place to another, but in ensuring that our movements are filled with *sidq*—truthfulness and sincerity toward Allah. When you begin something, begin with a truthful intention; when you end something, end it in a way that pleases your Creator. And when you face opposition or challenges, do not rely solely on your own strength—ask Allah for a *sultan* that supports you, a divine proof and power that makes you firm. This is the way of the Prophets, and it is open to you too. So call upon Allah with this same supplication, and watch how He opens doors of goodness for you, protects you in your exits, and grants you victory in ways you never imagined. Islam is not a religion of helplessness; it is a religion of turning to the All-Powerful, who never abandons those who sincerely seek His help.
