Surah Maryam — Verse 76

Tafsir (Explanation):

In this noble verse, Allah informs us of a magnificent divine principle: those who sincerely seek guidance and strive upon the path of faith are granted even more guidance. Allah increases them in insight, conviction, and righteousness, step by step, as a reward for their sincere pursuit of Him. This is a beautiful encouragement — the more you walk toward Allah, the more He comes to your aid, illuminating your heart and strengthening your resolve. Guidance is not a one-time gift; it is a continuous blessing that grows with every act of obedience and every moment of sincere devotion.

Then Allah contrasts the fleeting pleasures of this world with the enduring value of righteous deeds. The "enduring righteous deeds" — such as prayer, charity, remembrance of Allah, kindness to others, and all acts done sincerely for His sake — are far better in the sight of your Lord, O Messenger, in terms of reward and in terms of ultimate outcome. While worldly gains vanish and their enjoyment fades, these deeds remain stored with Allah, awaiting the believer on the Day when nothing else will avail. They are the true investment that yields eternal dividends.

This verse carries a profound call to every believer: do not be deceived by the temporary successes of those who reject the truth, and do not despair if your path seems difficult. Allah is with those who seek Him, increasing them in light and blessing. And the deeds you perform today, however small, are seeds planted for an everlasting harvest. So hold fast to righteousness, for its return is the most beautiful of all returns — the pleasure of Allah and the gardens of eternity.
