Word Meanings:
- Tanzīlan (تَنزِيلًا): A sending down, a revelation descending from above.
- Min man khalaqa (مِمَّنْ خَلَقَ): From the One who created — i.e., from Allah alone.
- Al-arḍ (الأَرْضَ): The earth, the lower world we inhabit.
- Al-samāwāti al-ʿulā (السَّمَاوَاتِ الْعُلَى): The highest heavens, the elevated celestial realms raised above all creation.
Explanation of the Verse:
This Qur’an is a revelation sent down from Allah — the One who created the earth beneath your feet and the lofty heavens above you, raised high in perfect order and grandeur. The verse establishes the divine origin of this Book: it is not the speech of a human, a poet, or a soothsayer, but a communication from the Creator of all existence. The mention of creation here is deliberate — it invites you to reflect: the One who fashioned the vast universe, with its earth and its towering heavens, is surely capable of sending down a Book of guidance. The heavens are described as "al-ʿulā" (the highest) to remind you of their elevation and majesty, pointing to the infinite power and knowledge of their Maker. This Qur’an, therefore, carries the weight of that same divine authority — it is a message from the Lord of the worlds, worthy of your full attention and reverence.
A Daʿwah Reflection:
Dear reader, pause and ponder: the very earth you walk upon and the skies that stretch endlessly above you — who raised them without pillars, who spread the earth as a resting place, who adorned the heavens with stars? It is Allah, the All-Mighty, the All-Wise. And this same Allah has not left you without guidance. He has sent down this Qur’an as a mercy and a light, so that you may know your purpose, find peace in your heart, and succeed in this life and the next. When you hold this Book, you are holding a message from your Creator — the One who knows what is in your soul better than you do yourself. Open your heart to it, and you will find in it the answer to every question, the cure for every ailment, and the path to eternal bliss. This is the invitation of Islam: to return to the One who created you, through the words He revealed for your guidance. Will you not respond?
