Surah Taha — Verse 93

Tafsir (Explanation):

In this verse, Prophet Musa (peace be upon him) addresses his brother Harun with a tone of deep concern and reproach after returning from the Mount of Tur and finding his people worshipping the calf. He asks: "What prevented you, O Harun, when you saw them going astray from their religion, from following me and leaving them behind? Did you disobey my command?"

The command referred to here is the one Musa had given Harun before his departure: to act as his deputy over the Children of Israel, to guide them, to maintain righteousness, and to oppose corruption. Musa's question is not merely an expression of anger, but a call to accountability — a reminder that leadership carries responsibility, and that standing firm upon the truth is a sacred duty. Harun, as we know from the broader context, had indeed tried his best to stop the people, but they overpowered him.
