Key Words and Their Meanings:

  • اخْسَئُوا (ikhsa'u): "Be driven away" or "Be humiliated and disgraced." It carries the sense of being repelled with scorn, like a dog that is shooed away with harsh words.
  • فِيهَا (fiha): "In it" — referring to the Fire of Hell.
  • وَلَا تُكَلِّمُونِ (wa la tukallimuni): "And do not speak to Me" — meaning, do not address Me with any request or plea.

Explanation of the Verse:

In this verse, Allah Almighty responds to the desperate pleas of the inhabitants of Hellfire. After they had begged and cried out for relief or for their destruction, Allah answers them with a decisive and final command: "Be driven away into it, humiliated and disgraced, and do not speak to Me."

This is the ultimate severance of hope. The people of Hell had previously asked to be returned to the world to do good deeds, and they had asked for their punishment to be lightened, but now the door of mercy is firmly shut. The word "ikhsa'u" is used in Arabic to describe the act of chasing away an unwanted animal with harshness and contempt — this paints a vivid picture of the utter humiliation and rejection they face.

Furthermore, the command "do not speak to Me" signifies the complete cessation of any dialogue with their Lord. Their prayers, their pleas, and their hopes are all cut off. There is no intercession for them, no second chance, and no way out. This is the moment when despair becomes absolute, and they realize that their fate is sealed forever.

A Da'wah Reflection:

This verse serves as a profound and sobering reminder for every believer. It teaches us that the opportunity to speak to Allah — through supplication (du'a), repentance (tawbah), and worship — is one of the greatest blessings of this life. As long as we are breathing, the door of mercy is open, and Allah invites us to call upon Him, promising to respond.

Do not wait until that door is closed. Turn to Allah now, in humility and sincerity, and let your tongue be moist with His remembrance. For the One who says "Call upon Me, I will respond to you" (Qur'an 40:60) is the same One who, in the Hereafter, will say to the disbelievers, "Do not speak to Me." Seize this precious moment of life to build a relationship with your Creator, so that you may be among those who are greeted with peace and mercy, not with rejection and disgrace.

📜 Verse 106-110 — Al-Mu'minun

They will say, "Our Lord, our wretchedness overcame us, and we were a people astray.
Our Lord, remove us from it, and if we were to return [to evil], we would indeed be wrongdoers."
He will say, "Remain despised therein and do not speak to Me.
Indeed, there was a party of My servants who said, 'Our Lord, we have believed, so forgive us and have mercy upon us, and You are the best of the merciful.'
But you took them in mockery to the point that they made you forget My remembrance, and you used to laugh at them.
