Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Al-Kitab (الْكِتَابَ): The Book given to Prophet Musa (Moses), peace be upon him — meaning the Torah (Tawrah).
- Waziran (وَزِيرًا): A helper, supporter, or assistant who shares the burden of the mission. It comes from the root *wizr*, meaning a heavy load, so a *wazir* is one who helps carry that weight.
Tafsir (Explanation):
In this verse, Allah the Almighty reminds us of His great favor upon Prophet Musa, peace be upon him, by granting him the divine Book — the Torah — as a guidance and light for the Children of Israel. Not only did Allah honor Musa with this revelation, but He also strengthened him by appointing his brother, Harun (Aaron), peace be upon him, as a *wazir* — a supportive companion and fellow prophet who would assist him in conveying the message and facing the immense challenges ahead.
This was a profound act of divine mercy and wisdom. The mission to confront Pharaoh — a tyrant who claimed divinity and oppressed his people — was an enormous task. No single person, no matter how strong, could bear such a burden alone. So Allah, in His infinite kindness, paired Musa with his brother Harun, who was eloquent in speech and gentle in demeanor, to stand by his side. Together, they were commanded to go to Pharaoh and his people, who had rejected the clear signs of Allah’s Lordship and Oneness, and call them to faith, obedience, and the abandonment of shirk (associating partners with Allah). When Pharaoh and his people persisted in their denial, Allah destroyed them with a mighty punishment.
A Da'wah Reflection:
This verse carries a beautiful lesson for every believer: Allah does not leave His servants alone in their struggles. When He assigns a mission, He also provides the means, the support, and the companions to help accomplish it. Just as Musa was given Harun as a helper, Allah places in our lives people — family, friends, teachers, and righteous companions — who lighten our burdens and strengthen our resolve. So never feel alone in your journey of faith. Trust that Allah, who aided His prophets, will also aid you. And when you face a difficult task for the sake of truth, seek righteous company, for unity in goodness is a blessing that multiplies strength and brings victory, just as it did for Musa and Harun. Let this verse inspire you to be a *wazir* — a source of support and encouragement — for your brothers and sisters in Islam, helping them carry their loads with love and sincerity.
