Surah Al-Furqan — Verse 39

He sent messengers, revealed scriptures, and showed them the consequences of those who came before them who rejected the truth. No nation was destroyed without first receiving a warning and a chance to reflect. The parables and lessons were laid out before them like a roadmap, showing both the path of guidance and the fate of those who strayed from it.

Yet, despite these clear signs and admonitions, they persisted in their arrogance and disbelief. So Allah, in His perfect wisdom, destroyed them with a devastating and complete annihilation – *tatbīran* – a word that paints a vivid picture of something being shattered into pieces, like glass or metal broken beyond repair. Their power, their wealth, their civilizations – all were crushed to nothing.
