Tafsir (Explanation):

In the story of Prophet Nūḥ (Noah) — peace be upon him — and his people, there lies a profound sign and a powerful lesson for all who reflect. Allah saved Nūḥ and the believers who boarded the ark with him, while the disbelievers who rejected the message were drowned in the flood. This is not merely a historical tale; it is a living proof of Allah’s justice, His power, and His unwavering support for His righteous servants. Yet, despite this clear and mighty sign, the majority of those who heard this account did not believe in Allah, His Messenger, or His commandments. Their hearts remained sealed, and they turned away from the truth even when it was laid bare before them.

This verse gently but firmly calls us to pause and ask ourselves: Where do we stand? The signs of Allah are all around us — in the stories of the past, in the wonders of creation, and in the guidance of the Qur’an. The tragedy of the disbelievers was not a lack of evidence, but a refusal to submit. Let this be a reminder that faith is a gift we must nurture with sincerity, humility, and action. Do not be like the majority who saw and yet turned away; rather, be among those who see the signs and respond with a heart full of gratitude and belief. For Allah’s promise is true — He never abandons those who trust in Him, just as He saved Nūḥ and his followers from the depths of the sea.
