Word Meanings:

  • Al-'Azeez (العزيز): The Almighty, the All-Powerful, the Invincible One who prevails over all things and is never overcome.
  • Ar-Raheem (الرحيم): The Most Merciful, the One whose mercy encompasses all of creation, with special compassion for the believers.

Explanation of the Verse:

This verse comes as a profound reassurance and a powerful reminder of two of Allah's most magnificent attributes. Allah addresses His Prophet (peace be upon him) directly, saying: "And indeed, your Lord — He is surely the Almighty, the Most Merciful."

The emphasis here is striking — the verse uses a grammatical structure of strong affirmation (the emphatic "inna" and the additional "la" prefix) to leave no room for doubt. Your Lord, O Prophet, is *Al-'Azeez* — the One whose might is absolute, whose power knows no limits, and who is never defeated. No enemy of His cause can ever prevail against Him. He is the One who takes vengeance upon the disbelievers and oppressors when He wills, and none can escape His grasp.

And simultaneously, He is *Ar-Raheem* — the Most Merciful. His mercy is not a distant, abstract concept; it is an active, ever-present reality that embraces His believing servants. He is merciful to the believers in this world and the next, guiding them, forgiving them, and rewarding them with eternal bliss.

This pairing of divine attributes is profoundly meaningful. The combination of absolute power with boundless mercy means that the believer never needs to fear — for the One who protects them is all-powerful, and the One who judges them is all-merciful. It also serves as a warning to those who reject the truth: the Almighty is fully capable of exacting justice, while His mercy remains open to all who turn to Him in sincere repentance.

A Call to Reflection and Action:

Dear reader, let this verse fill your heart with tranquility and hope. Whatever trials you face, know that your Lord is Al-'Azeez — nothing is too difficult for Him, no obstacle is beyond His removal, and no enemy can stand against His will. And know that He is Ar-Raheem — His mercy is closer to you than your own breath. He loves to forgive, He delights in granting, and He never turns away a sincere heart that calls upon Him.

So turn to Him with confidence. Place your trust in the Almighty who is also the Most Merciful. And let this beautiful verse be a source of strength in your moments of weakness, a light in your moments of darkness, and a reminder that with Al-'Azeez and Ar-Raheem on your side, you are never alone and never without hope.

📜 Verse 7-11 — Ash-Shu'ara

Did they not look at the earth - how much We have produced therein from every noble kind?
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
And [mention] when your Lord called Moses, [saying], "Go to the wrongdoing people -
The people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear Allah?"
