Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Sīrū (سِيرُوا): Travel, move about, journey.
  • Fī al-Arḍ (فِي الْأَرْضِ): Throughout the earth, across the land.
  • Fa-unẓurū (فَانظُرُوا): Then look, observe, reflect with your eyes and hearts.
  • ʿĀqibah (عَاقِبَةُ): The final outcome, end result, or consequence.
  • Al-Mujrimīn (الْمُجْرِمِينَ): The criminals, the guilty ones, those who persisted in sin and denial of the truth.

Tafsir (Explanation):

O Messenger, say to those who deny the resurrection and reject the message: Travel through the earth and witness with your own eyes the ruins of past nations. Look at the remnants of their homes, their palaces, and their civilizations that once flourished—then see how they were utterly destroyed. Those criminals denied their prophets, mocked the truth, and persisted in their wrongdoing, so Allah seized them with a punishment that left nothing standing. Their power, wealth, and numbers did not protect them in the least.

This is not merely a historical lesson—it is a living sign and a warning. The same earth you walk upon today still carries the traces of those who came before you. Their fate is not a distant tale; it is a reality that unfolds before anyone who cares to reflect. If you travel, you will find the remains of ʿĀd, Thamūd, and Pharaoh's people—all of whom rejected the truth and faced a terrible end.

So reflect, dear reader: what made them criminals? It was their arrogance, their refusal to submit to their Creator, and their denial of the life to come. And if you look honestly at the world around you, you will see that the pattern never changes—those who turn away from Allah's guidance ultimately face ruin, whether in this life or the next.

This verse is a call to open your eyes and your heart. It invites you to learn from history rather than repeat its mistakes. The Qur'an does not ask you to believe blindly; it asks you to observe, to think, and to reason. And when you do, you will find that the truth of Islam is as clear as the sun—and that the path of the criminals leads only to loss, while the path of faith leads to eternal success.

So let this be a turning point for you. Do not wait until you see the punishment with your own eyes, for then it will be too late. Embrace the guidance of your Lord today, and you will be among those who are saved, both in this world and in the Hereafter.

📜 Verse 67-71 — An-Naml

And those who disbelieve say, "When we have become dust as well as our forefathers, will we indeed be brought out [of the graves]?
We have been promised this, we and our forefathers, before. This is not but legends of the former peoples."
Say, [O Muhammad], "Travel through the land and observe how was the end of the criminals."
And grieve not over them or be in distress from what they conspire.
And they say, "When is [the fulfillment of] this promise, if you should be truthful?"
