Key Words and Their Meanings:

  • Sabeelana (سَبِيلَنَا): Our path or way, meaning the religion and practices the disbelievers followed.
  • Nahmil (وَلْنَحْمِلْ): We will carry or bear, meaning to take upon ourselves the burden of sins.
  • Khatayakum (خَطَايَاكُمْ): Your sins or misdeeds, referring to the consequences of those sins.
  • Kadhibun (لَكَاذِبُونَ): Indeed liars, emphasizing the certainty of their falsehood.

Explanation of the Verse:

In this noble verse, Allah Almighty exposes the empty promises and deceptive words of the disbelievers from Quraysh who rejected the Oneness of Allah and denied His promise of reward and punishment. They addressed the believers among their own people, saying: "Abandon the religion of Muhammad and follow our path and our way of life. If there is any sin or burden in what you do, we will carry it on your behalf and bear its consequences for you."

This was a cunning and deceptive invitation, designed to lure the believers away from the truth of Islam and back into the darkness of disbelief. The disbelievers presented themselves as generous protectors who would take upon themselves the punishment of the believers' supposed sins, making the path of disbelief seem easy and free of consequence.

However, Allah Almighty immediately refutes this claim with absolute clarity. He declares that these disbelievers will not carry anything from the sins of the believers—not even the weight of a single atom. No soul can bear the burden of another. Every person will stand before Allah alone on the Day of Judgment, responsible for their own deeds. The disbelievers are not capable of carrying their own sins, let alone the sins of others, and they know this full well. Their claim is a blatant lie, a deception they use to mislead the believers.

This verse carries a profound lesson for all of humanity. It teaches us that false promises and empty words cannot stand before the truth of Allah's justice. The disbelievers' invitation was not based on love or concern for the believers; it was a trap to pull them away from guidance into misguidance. They knew they had no power to transfer sins or bear burdens, yet they made this claim to weaken the believers' resolve.

A Call to Reflection and Faith:

Dear reader, reflect on the beauty of this verse and how it protects you from deception. Allah, in His infinite mercy, exposes the plots of the enemies of faith so that you may remain steadfast on the path of truth. When anyone invites you away from the worship of Allah alone, promising you safety or worldly gain, remember that no one can intercede for you or carry your sins except by Allah's permission. The only path to salvation is the path of sincere faith and righteous deeds.

This verse also fills the believer's heart with tranquility and confidence. You do not need to fear the threats or temptations of the disbelievers, for their promises are lies and their schemes are weak. Allah is the Protector of the believers, and He never abandons those who put their trust in Him. Hold firmly to your faith, for it is the greatest treasure, and let not the deceptive words of anyone turn you away from the light of guidance.

The Quran repeatedly warns us against those who try to lead us astray with sweet words and false promises. This verse is a shining example of how Allah unveils the reality behind such deception, so that we may walk the straight path with open eyes and a steadfast heart. May Allah keep us firm upon His religion and protect us from the whispers of those who call to falsehood.

📜 Verse 10-14 — Al-'Ankabut

And of the people are some who say, "We believe in Allah," but when one [of them] is harmed for [the cause of] Allah, they consider the trial of the people as [if it were] the punishment of Allah. But if victory comes from your Lord, they say, "Indeed, We were with you." Is not Allah most knowing of what is within the breasts of all creatures?
And Allah will surely make evident those who believe, and He will surely make evident the hypocrites.
And those who disbelieve say to those who believe, "Follow our way, and we will carry your sins." But they will not carry anything of their sins. Indeed, they are liars.
But they will surely carry their [own] burdens and [other] burdens along with their burdens, and they will surely be questioned on the Day of Resurrection about what they used to invent.
And We certainly sent Noah to his people, and he remained among them a thousand years minus fifty years, and the flood seized them while they were wrongdoers.
