Key Words and Meanings:
- افترى على الله كذبًا – Fabricated lies against Allah, attributing to Him what is not true, such as claiming He has a partner or a son.
- كذّب بالحق – Denied the truth (the Qur'an and the message of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him) when it came to him.
- مثوى – A dwelling place, abode, or resting place (here, referring to the Fire of Hell).
Explanation of the Verse:
This verse poses a powerful rhetorical question to awaken the conscience: *"And who is more unjust than one who invents a lie against Allah or denies the truth when it comes to him?"*
There is no greater injustice than these two acts. The first is fabricating lies against Allah — attributing false beliefs to Him, such as claiming He has partners, rivals, or offspring, or inventing religious rules that He never revealed. The second is rejecting the truth when it arrives — turning away from the clear message of Islam, the Qur'an, and the prophethood of Muhammad (peace be upon him) out of arrogance, stubbornness, or blind following of tradition, without even pausing to reflect.
Both paths lead to the same end, for the verse concludes with a decisive question: *"Is there not in Hell a dwelling place for the disbelievers?"* This is not a question of doubt, but a statement of certainty — a reminder that those who persist in such injustice will find their final abode in the Fire. The rhetorical style invites the reader to reason: if these are the most unjust of people, then surely they deserve the most severe punishment.
A Call to Reflection and Faith:
Dear reader, pause and reflect on the fairness of this message. Islam calls you to pure truth — to worship Allah alone, without partners, and to accept the guidance He sent through His final Messenger. Is there any injustice in that? The one who fabricates lies against Allah wrongs himself first, for he builds his life on falsehood. The one who rejects the truth when it is clear and evident closes the door to his own salvation.
Allah, in His infinite mercy, has sent you the truth and made it accessible. He does not ask you to believe blindly, but invites you to reflect, to reason, and to see the signs of His greatness in the universe and in your own soul. Do not be among those who turn away from the truth when it reaches them, for the consequences are grave. Embrace the light of faith today, and save yourself from a dwelling in the Fire. The door of repentance is open, and Allah's mercy is vast — but the choice is yours, and the time is now.
