Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Dār al-Muqāmah (دَارَ الْمُقَامَةِ): The abode of permanent residence — Paradise, where one settles forever without ever leaving.
- Naṣab (نَصَبٌ): Weariness, fatigue, or exhaustion that afflicts the body through hard labor.
- Lughūb (لُغُوبٌ): Severe tiredness and utter exhaustion — a deeper state of fatigue that follows prolonged toil, often described as the result of accumulated weariness.
Tafsir (Explanation):
This verse is a continuation of the glorious description of the dwellers of Paradise, those whom Allah has honored with His mercy and admitted into His eternal garden. They proclaim: “Praise be to Allah who has removed from us all sorrow and has settled us in the everlasting abode of His grace.” And then they acknowledge the ultimate source of this blessing: “He who, out of His bounty, has placed us in the abode of permanent residence.”
The phrase “out of His bounty” is profoundly significant — it affirms that entering Paradise is not a right earned by human deeds alone, nor a payment for their works, but a pure gift of Allah’s generosity and favor. No one enters Paradise by their own merit; rather, it is Allah’s grace that covers their shortcomings and elevates them to this eternal bliss.
Then comes the ultimate promise of comfort: “No toil touches us therein, nor does any weariness afflict us.” In Paradise, the body and soul are entirely free from fatigue, pain, exhaustion, or boredom. There is no tiredness from work, no hardship from struggle, no aging, no sickness, and no emotional distress. The inhabitants enjoy perpetual peace, perfect health, and boundless joy — a state of complete rest and satisfaction that knows no end.
This verse teaches us that the ultimate goal of a believer is not merely to escape Hellfire, but to attain this perfect, everlasting home where every form of hardship is abolished. It instills hope and motivation: every difficulty we endure in this world — every tired night, every painful trial, every moment of exhaustion in worship and striving for righteousness — will be compensated with a life where fatigue is utterly unknown.
Da‘wah Reflection:
Dear reader, imagine a life where you never feel tired, never experience stress, never grow weak or weary — a life of eternal peace and joy in the presence of your Lord. This is not a fantasy; it is a reality Allah has prepared for those who believe and do good. The path to this abode is not easy in this world, but every step of patience, every act of worship, every moment of self-restraint is an investment in an everlasting reward. So strive with hope, and let the promise of this verse fill your heart with longing for Paradise — a home where fatigue is no more, and where Allah’s bounty embraces you forever.
