Surah Yasin — Verse 31

Tafsir (Explanation):

Do these mockers and deniers not open their eyes and take heed of the countless generations that came before them — nations of immense power, wealth, and civilization — whom We destroyed for their rejection of the truth? Those people are gone forever; they will never return to this worldly life again. They have passed on to face the consequences of their deeds, and Allah will hold them fully accountable. The lesson is clear: just as those nations were wiped out, so too can these people be destroyed if they persist in their arrogance and mockery of the messengers. Yet, instead of reflecting, they remain heedless, as if they will live forever.

Dear reader, this verse is a profound wake-up call. History is not merely a collection of stories — it is a mirror for humanity. Every ruined civilization, every vanished empire, stands as a silent witness to the truth that no one escapes Allah's justice. The Qur'an invites you to look around and ask yourself: where are the mighty Pharaohs, the powerful 'Ad and Thamud, the great builders of the past? They are gone, and their worldly glory did not save them. This life is fleeting, and the real success lies in preparing for the eternal life to come. Do not let arrogance or distraction blind you, as it blinded those before you. Open your heart to the message of Islam, turn to your Creator in humility, and seize this precious opportunity before it is too late — for once death comes, there is no return to rectify what was lost. The door of repentance is open now; do not wait until it closes forever.
