Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Dhikr (ذِكْر): Remembrance, honor, noble mention, and a reminder.
  • Al-Muttaqeen (الْمُتَّقِينَ): The God-fearing, those who are mindful of Allah by obeying His commands and avoiding His prohibitions.
  • Husna Ma'ab (حُسْنَ مَآبٍ): A beautiful final return or an excellent place of resort.

Explanation of the Verse:

This verse serves as a profound declaration: "This" — meaning the Qur'an that is being recited to you, O Prophet — "is a Dhikr." It is a reminder that brings honor and noble mention, both for you and for your people. It is a source of eternal glory, a book that elevates those who embrace it and live by it.

Then comes the glad tiding: "And indeed, for the Muttaqeen — those who consciously guard their relationship with Allah by fulfilling His commands and staying away from what He has forbidden — there is a beautiful final return." This is not just any return; it is the ultimate destination of everlasting gardens, where doors are opened wide for them, where they recline on adorned couches, and where they call for every fruit and drink their souls desire. Every wish is granted, every delight is within reach, and their eyes find pure joy in what surrounds them. This is the promised reward for those who chose righteousness in this fleeting world.

A Call to Reflection and Action:

Dear reader, pause and reflect on this magnificent promise. Allah, the Most Merciful, does not call you to hardship for its own sake; rather, He invites you to a life of awareness and excellence, and in return, He guarantees you a destination beyond imagination. The Qur'an is your honor — it raises your status in this world and the next. So hold fast to it, let it guide your steps, and join the ranks of the Muttaqeen. Their reward is not distant; it is as certain as the dawn after the night. Let this verse ignite in your heart a longing for that beautiful abode, and let every act of obedience bring you closer to it. For the One who made this promise never breaks His word — and His generosity knows no bounds.
