Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Jannāti ʿAdn — Gardens of perpetual residence and eternal bliss; the highest and most honored abode in Paradise.
  • Mufattahatan lahumu al-abwāb — With their gates opened wide for them, as a sign of honor and welcome.

Explanation of the Verse:

After describing the blessed destination of the righteous in the previous verse, Allah continues here to paint a vivid picture of their ultimate reward. These are the Gardens of Eden — a place of everlasting stay, never to be left or diminished. What makes this scene even more beautiful is that the gates of these gardens are already opened for them, not shut or requiring permission to enter. This is a gesture of divine hospitality and honor: the righteous are not made to wait or knock, but are welcomed with open doors as beloved guests of their Lord.

The opening of the gates signifies ease of entry, the absence of any barrier or hindrance, and the completeness of Allah’s generosity. It also reflects the inner state of the believers — their hearts were open to faith in this world, so in the Hereafter, the doors of mercy and reward are flung open for them. Every gate leads to endless delights: rivers, fruits, companionship, and the greatest of all — the pleasure of Allah and the vision of Him for the believers.

This verse carries a profound lesson for us: the path to these gardens begins now. Just as the gates of Paradise are opened for the righteous on that Day, the gates of guidance and repentance are open for us today. Allah calls us to turn to Him, to purify our hearts, and to strive in good deeds — so that when we arrive at those gardens, we find the doors already waiting, opened in honor of our faith and patience.

Let this beautiful promise fill your heart with hope and motivate you to draw closer to Allah. No sin is too great to be forgiven, and no effort is too small to be rewarded. The One who opened the gates of Paradise for His righteous servants is the same One who opens the door of His mercy for you right now — so knock, and you will find it open.
