Translation — Tafsir

Key Words and Their Meanings:

  • Yukawwir (يُكَوِّرُ): To wrap or coil one thing around another, like a turban being wound around a head. It signifies the continuous, seamless overlapping of night and day.
  • Sakhkhara (سَخَّرَ): To subject or make subservient; to place something under a system of order for the benefit of others.
  • Ajalin Musamman (أَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى): A fixed, appointed term or deadline—here, the end of this worldly life.

The Tafsir (Explanation):

Allah, the Exalted, created the heavens and the earth with absolute truth and profound wisdom—not as a mere plaything or without purpose. Every star, every planet, and every layer of existence was brought into being for a meaningful, just, and purposeful reason. This truth stands in stark contrast to the claims of those who say creation is meaningless or accidental.

Look at the magnificent system of day and night: Allah wraps the night over the day, and wraps the day over the night, like a garment being coiled around a body. When one arrives, the other departs, and they follow one another in perfect, uninterrupted succession. This is not a chaotic process—it is a divine, precise mechanism that sustains life on Earth, allowing for rest, activity, and the balance of all living things.

And He has subjected the sun and the moon to His command. They do not move by their own will, nor do they wander aimlessly. Each one runs its course in a precise orbit, serving the needs of humanity—the sun bringing light, warmth, and the cycle of seasons; the moon guiding the months and the passage of time. Yet, all of this is not eternal. Every one of these celestial bodies is racing toward a fixed, appointed term: the end of this world, when the Hour will be established and all creation will return to its Creator.

So reflect, dear reader: Who but the Almighty could orchestrate such a flawless system? Who but the All-Powerful could hold the universe in perfect balance? Indeed, He is Al-Aziz—the Almighty, the Irresistible, the One whose might no force can challenge, and who will certainly take vengeance upon His enemies. And He is Al-Ghaffar—the Oft-Forgiving, the One who repeatedly and generously forgives the sins of His servants who turn to Him in sincere repentance.

This is the beauty of Islam: the same Lord who created the heavens and the earth, who controls the sun and the moon, is the Lord who opens His door of forgiveness to you. No matter how great your sins, His mercy is greater. He does not need your obedience for His own benefit, but He invites you to repent so that you may find peace and salvation. So turn to Him, for He is both the Mighty and the Forgiving—and His mercy is the greatest treasure you can ever seek.

📜 Verse 3-7 — Az-Zumar

Unquestionably, for Allah is the pure religion. And those who take protectors besides Him [say], "We only worship them that they may bring us nearer to Allah in position." Indeed, Allah will judge between them concerning that over which they differ. Indeed, Allah does not guide he who is a liar and [confirmed] disbeliever.
If Allah had intended to take a son, He could have chosen from what He creates whatever He willed. Exalted is He; He is Allah, the One, the Prevailing.
He created the heavens and earth in truth. He wraps the night over the day and wraps the day over the night and has subjected the sun and the moon, each running [its course] for a specified term. Unquestionably, He is the Exalted in Might, the Perpetual Forgiver.
He created you from one soul. Then He made from it its mate, and He produced for you from the grazing livestock eight mates. He creates you in the wombs of your mothers, creation after creation, within three darknesses. That is Allah, your Lord; to Him belongs dominion. There is no deity except Him, so how are you averted?
If you disbelieve - indeed, Allah is Free from need of you. And He does not approve for His servants disbelief. And if you are grateful, He approves it for you; and no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another. Then to your Lord is your return, and He will inform you about what you used to do. Indeed, He is Knowing of that within the breasts.
