Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Azwaajun Mutahharah: Pure, purified spouses—cleansed from all physical and moral impurities, free from any flaw or harm.
  • Zillun Zaleel: A dense, everlasting shade—deep, comfortable, and uninterrupted, neither scorched by heat nor chilled by cold.

Tafsir (Explanation):

For those whose hearts have found true peace through sincere faith in Allah and conviction in His Messenger Muhammad (peace be upon him), and who follow that faith with righteous deeds—striving in obedience and avoiding what He forbade—Allah makes a magnificent promise. He will admit them into Gardens beneath which rivers flow, their waters sparkling and serene, nourishing the landscape of eternal bliss. There they shall abide forever, never to leave, never to fade, never to end. In these Gardens, they will have spouses purified from every imperfection—clean in character, pure in essence, free from all that could cause distress or diminish joy. And beyond all this, Allah will grant them the shade of His mercy—a dense, encompassing shade that is neither too hot nor too cold, a perfect comfort that reflects the ultimate peace of His pleasure.

This verse is a radiant beacon of hope for every believer. It reminds us that no matter the trials of this world, the Hereafter holds a reward beyond imagination. The key is simple yet profound: faith in the heart and righteousness in action. These two go hand in hand—faith without action is empty, and action without faith is lost. When they combine, Allah’s promise becomes certain. He does not merely say "We will enter them"—He emphasizes it with the emphatic form, "We will surely enter them," confirming that this is a guaranteed covenant from the Most Merciful. So let every believer take heart: your struggles, your patience, your prayers, your charity, your kindness—none of it is wasted. Allah sees it all, and He has prepared for you what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human heart has ever conceived. Let this verse ignite in you a longing for that eternal shade and those pure companions, and let it motivate you to live each day with faith and good deeds, knowing that the best is yet to come.
