Explanation of the Verse:
This verse comes as a powerful and comforting response to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in the face of the arrogance of the disbelievers. When the call to worship Allah alone was made, and the command to prostrate to Him was given, some of the Quraysh refused in pride and arrogance.
So Allah says: If these people turn away in arrogance and refuse to submit to their Creator, then let them do so — for their refusal does not diminish Allah's glory in the least. Indeed, the angels who are in the presence of their Lord — the most honored and noble of creation — continuously glorify Him and exalt His name. They engage in His worship and praise by night and by day, without any interruption. And they never grow weary of this; it is their joy and their very nature. They never feel tired, bored, or reluctant in their devotion.
This is a profound lesson: the honor of worship is not dependent on the acceptance of the arrogant. The universe is filled with beings who glorify Allah constantly. If some humans refuse to bow, the angels bow. If some refuse to praise, the heavens and the earth are alive with praise. The throne of Allah is surrounded by those who never cease in their devotion.
A Call to Reflection and Action:
Dear reader, reflect on this beautiful truth: the angels — pure, sinless, and mighty — spend every moment of their existence in the glorification of Allah. They do not tire, they do not sleep, and they do not complain. This is the very purpose for which we were created as well. When you bow in prayer, you join a cosmic chorus of worship that never stops. When you say "SubhanAllah" (Glory be to Allah), you echo the words of the angels who are closer to your Lord than you can imagine.
So do not let the arrogance of others discourage you from your faith. Do not let the mockery of the ignorant stop you from prostrating to your Creator. The angels are with you in spirit — they support the believers and pray for them. Your Lord does not need the worship of the arrogant; He has an army of angels who never tire. But *you* need His mercy, His guidance, and His paradise.
Take this as an invitation: be like the angels in your devotion — consistent, sincere, and joyful in your worship. Do not be like those who refuse out of pride, for pride belongs to Allah alone. And know that every prostration you make is a step closer to the One who loves you more than a mother loves her child. The doors of repentance and worship are always open — will you not enter through them and join the ranks of those who glorify Him day and night?
