Tafsir (Explanation):
Allah Almighty opens this verse with a solemn oath, declaring that those who claim that Allah Himself is the Messiah, son of Mary, have indeed committed an act of disbelief. This statement is a severe distortion of the truth, for it elevates a human prophet to the rank of divinity. Yet, the Messiah himself — Jesus, son of Mary — was the very one who called his people to the pure worship of Allah alone. He said to the Children of Israel: "Worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord." In this, he made it crystal clear that he was a servant of Allah, just like them — a created being, subject to the will of his Creator. He never claimed divinity, nor did he ever approve of being worshipped.
Then comes a decisive and universal warning: whoever associates any partner with Allah in worship — whether it be a prophet, an angel, a saint, or any created being — Allah has made Paradise forbidden for them. Their final destination shall be the Fire, and there will be no one to save them from it. No intercessor, no helper, no supporter can rescue them from the punishment that awaits those who commit this greatest of sins.
This verse serves as a powerful reminder of the absolute oneness of Allah — the very heart of Islam. It calls us to reflect: if Jesus himself, a mighty prophet of Allah, declared his servitude to his Lord, how can anyone claim that he is divine? The message is clear — salvation lies in pure monotheism, in directing all worship to Allah alone, and in following the example of the prophets who all preached the same truth: "Worship Allah, you have no god other than Him."
Dear reader, this is the essence of faith — a call to free yourself from all false notions and to submit wholeheartedly to the One who created you, sustains you, and will judge you. The door of repentance is always open, and Allah's mercy is vast. Do not let pride or stubbornness keep you from the truth. Embrace the oneness of Allah, and you will find peace in this life and salvation in the next.
