Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- "Wa min doonihimā" — "And besides these two" or "And apart from these two [gardens]." The word *doon* here means "other than" or "in addition to," indicating something separate and distinct from what was previously mentioned.
- "Jannatān" — "Two gardens." The dual form in Arabic emphasizes that there are exactly two additional gardens, paired together.
Explanation of the Verse:
After describing the two magnificent gardens prepared for the righteous—those who fear standing before their Lord—Allah, the Most Merciful, now reveals that there are yet two more gardens beyond them. These are additional blessings, reserved for those of lower rank in piety but still among the believers. The verse says: "And besides these two are two [other] gardens."
This means that in addition to the two gardens already described earlier in the surah—which are for the foremost in faith and closeness to Allah—there are two other gardens for the next tier of the righteous. These gardens are also full of delight, though their descriptions come later in the surah, showing that Allah’s mercy is vast and His generosity knows no bounds. He multiplies rewards and grants His servants more than they could ever imagine.
The repetition of the question that follows in the next verse—"So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?"—serves as a powerful reminder to both humans and jinn: every blessing, whether great or small, is a gift from Allah, and none of His favors should be met with ingratitude or denial.
A Call to Reflection and Gratitude:
Dear believer, contemplate the boundless mercy of your Lord! He does not merely grant a single reward; He doubles it, and then adds more. When you strive in His path, He opens doors of goodness you never expected. These two additional gardens are a testament to His infinite grace—a reminder that no act of obedience, however small, is ever wasted in His sight. So let your heart be filled with hope and your tongue with praise. Strive for His pleasure, and trust that His rewards are beyond your imagination. Indeed, Allah is the Most Generous, the Most Merciful, and His bounty is endless.
