Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- عَلَىٰ مَكَانَتِكُمْ (upon your position/place): This means "upon your way, path, or condition" — i.e., continue in your current state and approach.
- عَاقِبَةُ الدَّارِ (the outcome of the abode): The final, praiseworthy result — referring to Paradise and success in the Hereafter, and in this world, victory and honor.
- لَا يُفْلِحُ (will not succeed): Will not attain prosperity, salvation, or victory.
Tafsir (Explanation):
O Messenger, say to your people clearly and with certainty: "O my people, continue upon your path and your way — whatever you believe and whatever you do — for I am continuing upon my path, the path that my Lord has prescribed for me. I have delivered the message to you clearly, and I have established the proof against you. I do not fear your rejection, nor do I waver in my commitment to the truth."
Then tell them: "Soon you will come to know — when the punishment descends upon you and the truth becomes manifest — which of us will have the blessed outcome. You will see whose end is Paradise, whose side prevails in this world, and who inherits the earth. The matter is not decided by your arrogance or your temporary power; it is decided by the truth and by Allah's decree."
And conclude with this decisive statement: "Indeed, the wrongdoers — those who transgress the limits set by Allah, who associate partners with Him in worship, and who oppress themselves and others — will never succeed. They may enjoy a fleeting pleasure in this world, but their ultimate end is loss and ruin, in this life and in the Hereafter."
A Da'wah Reflection:
This verse carries a profound message of steadfastness and certainty. The Prophet ﷺ did not argue endlessly or despair over rejection — he simply stated his position with clarity and left the outcome to Allah. This teaches us that when we stand upon the truth, we should not be shaken by opposition. We do our part — conveying, acting, and persevering — and we trust Allah for the result.
Notice also the beautiful promise hidden in this verse: success belongs to the righteous, not to the powerful or the arrogant. History has proven this again and again. The oppressor may seem strong today, but the earth is inherited by Allah's righteous servants. So hold firm to your faith, do not envy the temporary gains of those who oppose the truth, and know with certainty that the final victory belongs to those who are patient and just. The Hereafter is the true abode of success — and that is the ultimate prize.
