Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Innahu (إِنَّهُ): Indeed, it — referring to the Qur'an.
- Laqawlu (لَقَوْلُ): Is truly the speech/utterance — meaning the recitation or delivery of words.
- Rasūlin (رَسُولٍ): A Messenger — here referring to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
- Karīm (كَرِيمٍ): Noble and honorable — one who is generous in character, elevated in status, and entrusted with a great mission.
Explanation of the Verse:
This verse affirms with absolute certainty that the Qur'an is not the product of human imagination, nor is it the speech of a poet, a soothsayer, or a madman — as the disbelievers of Makkah falsely claimed. Rather, it is the very word of Allah, the Lord of all worlds, conveyed through the tongue of a Messenger who is noble, honorable, and distinguished in both his lineage and his character: Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
The Messenger does not speak of his own desire; he merely delivers what has been revealed to him from his Creator. The Qur'an is thus a divine message, entrusted to the most noble of creation, to be recited and conveyed to all of humanity. The word "Karīm" here highlights the elevated status of this Messenger — he is trustworthy, pure, and chosen by Allah Himself for this monumental task. It also points to the honor of the message itself: a noble revelation brought by a noble messenger.
This verse serves as a powerful reminder that the Qur'an is a living connection between the Creator and His creation. When we recite it, we are not merely reading words — we are hearing the speech of Allah, delivered through the best of His creatures. This should fill every believer's heart with awe, gratitude, and a deep sense of responsibility to live by its teachings.
A Call to Reflection and Action:
Dear reader, ponder this: the Qur'an you hold in your hands is the direct word of your Lord, sent to you out of His infinite mercy and love. It is not a book of poetry or philosophy — it is a guide for your life, a light for your path, and a cure for your heart. The Messenger who delivered it was the most truthful and noble of all people, and he spared no effort to convey this message to you. So, do not turn away from it. Read it, understand it, and let it transform your life. For in it lies your success in this world and your salvation in the Hereafter. Let the honor of this divine message inspire you to honor it in return — by acting upon its commands and staying away from its prohibitions. Indeed, the Qur'an is the greatest gift from the Most Merciful, and there is no happiness except in embracing it.
