Surah Al-Qiyamah — Verse 9

Tafsir (Explanation):

On the Day of Resurrection, a scene of absolute terror unfolds. The sun and the moon, which Allah has appointed as signs of His power and sources of light for the world, will be gathered together into one mass. Their light will be extinguished completely—neither will shine, and both will be plunged into darkness. This is part of the cosmic upheaval that marks the end of this worldly life and the beginning of the eternal Hereafter.

This verse paints a vivid picture of the total collapse of the familiar order of the universe. The very lights that guide us through day and night, that sustain life and bring warmth, will be rendered powerless. When the sources of light are gone, darkness will engulf everything, and the terrified human soul will cry out in desperation: "Where is the escape?" But there will be no escape from the justice of Allah.

Dear reader, ponder this scene with your heart. The sun and moon that you see rising and setting every day—these are not eternal. They are created, finite, and subject to Allah's command. The real goal is to prepare for that Day when no light will help us except the light of faith and good deeds. Let this verse awaken your heart to turn to Allah now, before that Day arrives—when repentance will no longer be accepted, and the only light will be the mercy of Allah upon those who believed and did righteous deeds.
