Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Jannah (جَنَّةً): A magnificent garden or paradise, replete with every delight and comfort.
  • Harīr (حَرِيرًا): Fine, luxurious silk — the most exquisite fabric of adornment.

Tafsir (Explanation):

This verse reveals the magnificent reward Allah bestows upon His righteous servants who remain patient in this world. Their patience was not merely passive endurance; rather, it was an active, steadfast commitment to three noble paths: patiently performing acts of obedience to Allah, patiently refraining from sins and forbidden desires, and patiently accepting whatever trials and decrees Allah ordained for them. Because of this unwavering patience, Allah rewards them with two extraordinary gifts: a Paradise of eternal bliss, and garments of the finest silk to adorn them therein.

The mention of silk is particularly significant — in this worldly life, silk is reserved for luxury and often forbidden for men to wear, but in Paradise, it becomes a garment of honor for all the righteous. This imagery beautifully illustrates how Allah replaces the temporary hardships of this world with everlasting comforts in the Hereafter. Every moment of patience in this life — every tear held back, every anger suppressed, every temptation resisted — transforms into garments of silk and gardens of delight in the life to come.

A Da'wah Reflection:

Dear brother and sister in humanity, look at how generous your Lord is! He does not ask you to endure hardship without purpose. Every difficulty you face with patience, every sin you avoid for His sake, every act of worship you perform despite your tiredness — Allah sees it all, and He has prepared for you a reward beyond your imagination. Paradise and silk are not merely material descriptions; they are symbols of a life of perfect peace, beauty, and honor that awaits those who trust in Allah and remain patient.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "How wonderful is the affair of the believer! Indeed, all of his affairs are good for him. If something good happens to him, he is grateful, and that is good for him. If something harmful happens to him, he is patient, and that is good for him." (Sahih Muslim)

So take heart, O believer — your patience today is your treasure tomorrow. The silk of Paradise is woven from the threads of your steadfastness in this world. Allah never forgets a single act of patience, and His reward is far greater than any hardship you could ever face.

📜 Verse 10-14 — Al-Insan

Indeed, We fear from our Lord a Day austere and distressful."
So Allah will protect them from the evil of that Day and give them radiance and happiness
And will reward them for what they patiently endured [with] a garden [in Paradise] and silk [garments].
[They will be] reclining therein on adorned couches. They will not see therein any [burning] sun or [freezing] cold.
And near above them are its shades, and its [fruit] to be picked will be lowered in compliance.
