Word Meanings:

  • Waylun (وَيْلٌ): Destruction, severe punishment, or a valley in Hellfire. It is a word of threat and warning denoting intense suffering and ruin.
  • Yawma'idhin (يَوْمَئِذٍ): On that Day — referring to the Day of Resurrection.
  • Lil-mukadhdhibeen (لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ): For those who deny — i.e., those who reject the truth, the messengers, the resurrection, and the divine reckoning.

Explanation of the Verse:

This verse delivers a stern and powerful warning: "Destruction and severe punishment on that Day for those who deny." It addresses those who reject the oneness of Allah, who refuse to believe in His messengers, and who deny the reality of the resurrection and the final account. On the Day of Judgment, such deniers will face utter ruin, loss, and a painful chastisement that they cannot escape. The repetition of this verse throughout Surah Al-Mursalat — appearing ten times — intensifies the threat and serves as a relentless reminder to humanity. Each time it is repeated, it follows a mention of Allah's signs, blessings, or warnings, making it clear that every form of denial carries a corresponding consequence. This repetition is not mere rhetoric; it is a divine emphasis meant to shake the hearts of the heedless and awaken them before it is too late.

A Call to Reflection:

Dear reader, ponder this: the One who created the heavens and the earth, who sent messengers with clear guidance, and who has promised a Day of accountability — His words are true, and His warning is certain. Do not let temporary pleasures blind you to the eternal reality. The path of faith leads to peace and everlasting bliss, while the path of denial leads to regret and ruin. Open your heart to the truth, embrace the mercy of your Lord, and let this warning be a turning point toward righteousness. The door of repentance is open, and Allah's forgiveness is vast — but the opportunity is only in this life. Seize it before the Day arrives when no soul can bargain for another, and when the deniers will wish they had believed.

📜 Verse 17-21 — Al-Mursalat

Then We will follow them with the later ones.
Thus do We deal with the criminals.
Woe, that Day, to the deniers.
Did We not create you from a liquid disdained?
And We placed it in a firm lodging
