Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Rawāsiya: Firm, immovable mountains that are deeply rooted in the earth.
  • Shāmikhāt: Lofty, towering, and elevated peaks.
  • Furāt: Fresh, sweet, and palatable water that quenches thirst.

Tafsir (Explanation):

In this verse, Allah reminds us of His immense blessings and power. He says: *"And We placed therein firm, towering mountains, and gave you to drink fresh water."*

Think about the earth beneath your feet—how it would constantly shake and tremble were it not for the mountains that act as stabilizers, holding it firmly in place. These mountains, with their towering heights and deep roots, are a sign of Allah’s wisdom and mercy. They prevent the earth from swaying with you, providing a stable home for all living beings.

And then, consider the water you drink. It is *furāt*—pure, sweet, and refreshing. It flows from the skies and springs forth from the earth, sustaining your life, your crops, and your livestock. Who but the Most Merciful could provide such a perfect balance? Who but the All-Powerful could create these towering peaks and this life-giving water?

This verse is not merely a description of nature; it is an invitation to reflect. If Allah can raise mountains and send down fresh water, is He not capable of resurrecting you after death? The One who created these wonders from nothing can certainly bring you back to life for the Day of Judgment.

So, dear reader, let this verse awaken your heart. Every sip of water you take, every mountain you see, is a living proof of Allah’s power and His promise. Do not take these blessings for granted. Instead, let them lead you to gratitude, humility, and a deeper connection with your Creator. For the One who sustains you in this life is the same One who will call you to account in the next—so prepare for that meeting with faith and righteous deeds.
