Word Meanings:

(Awliyaa): Allies, supporters, protectors, and helpers.
(Fitnah): Trial, tribulation, persecution, or a situation that tests faith and causes turmoil.
(Fasadun Kabeer): Great corruption, widespread mischief, and destruction.

Explanation of the Verse:

Allah, the Most High, informs us in this noble verse that the disbelievers, regardless of their different tribes, nations, or sects, are allies and supporters of one another. Their unity is built upon their shared disbelief and their common enmity towards the believers. They stand together, aiding each other in their opposition to the truth and in their efforts to extinguish the light of Islam.

Therefore, O believers, you are commanded to be the opposite: you must be allies and supporters of one another, united in faith, love, and mutual assistance. You are prohibited from taking the disbelievers as your allies or relying on them for support over your fellow believers.

Then Allah issues a stern warning: "If you do not do it" — meaning, if you do not fulfill this command of mutual support and solidarity among the believers, and instead neglect your brothers in faith or turn to the disbelievers for alliance — "there will be Fitnah in the land and great corruption." This means that the disbelievers will gain strength and dominance, leading to the persecution of believers and the weakening of Islam. People will be turned away from the path of Allah, and corruption and mischief will spread throughout the earth.

A Call to Unity and Faith:

My dear brothers and sisters in Islam, this verse is a profound reminder of the importance of unity and solidarity within the Muslim community. Our strength lies not in our numbers alone, but in our cohesion, our mutual love, and our unwavering support for one another. When we stand together as one solid structure, supporting each other like bricks in a wall, no force on earth can overcome us.

The disbelievers are united in their falsehood; how can we, the people of truth, afford to be divided? Let this verse be a wake-up call for us to set aside our differences, to prioritize our shared faith over tribal, ethnic, or national affiliations, and to be there for our brothers and sisters wherever they may be.

When a Muslim is oppressed anywhere in the world, it is as if we are all oppressed. When a Muslim is in need, it is our duty to extend a helping hand. This is the essence of true faith — that we love for our brother what we love for ourselves, and we stand with them in times of ease and hardship alike.

Let us reflect on this beautiful guidance from our Lord and strive to implement it in our lives, so that we may earn His pleasure, attain victory in this world, and be among the successful in the Hereafter. May Allah unite our hearts upon righteousness and make us true allies to one another, just as He commanded. Ameen.

📜 Verse 71-75 — Al-Anfal

But if they intend to betray you - then they have already betrayed Allah before, and He empowered [you] over them. And Allah is Knowing and Wise.
Indeed, those who have believed and emigrated and fought with their wealth and lives in the cause of Allah and those who gave shelter and aided - they are allies of one another. But those who believed and did not emigrate - for you there is no guardianship of them until they emigrate. And if they seek help of you for the religion, then you must help, except against a people between yourselves and whom is a treaty. And Allah is Seeing of what you do.
And those who disbelieved are allies of one another. If you do not do so, there will be fitnah on earth and great corruption.
But those who have believed and emigrated and fought in the cause of Allah and those who gave shelter and aided - it is they who are the believers, truly. For them is forgiveness and noble provision.
And those who believed after [the initial emigration] and emigrated and fought with you - they are of you. But those of [blood] relationship are more entitled [to inheritance] in the decree of Allah. Indeed, Allah is Knowing of all things.
