Translation — Tafsir
Those who deny the Day of Recompense — the Day when Allah will judge His servants for their deeds in this world, rewarding the righteous and punishing the wicked.
Explanation of Key Words:
- Yawm al-Din (يوم الدين): The Day of Judgment and Recompense, when every soul will be fully requited for what it earned in this worldly life. It is called "al-Din" because it is the day when Allah's perfect justice and authority over all creation will be fully manifested, and every person will receive their complete due.
The Tafsir (Explanation):
This verse describes those who will face severe punishment on that Day — they are the ones who deny the coming of the Day of Judgment. They refuse to believe that there is a day when all people will be resurrected and held accountable for their actions. Their denial is not based on evidence or sound reasoning, but rather stems from their arrogance, their love of sin, and their refusal to submit to the truth. When the verses of the Quran are recited to them, they dismiss them as "tales of the ancients," turning away from the clear signs of Allah.
The truth is not as they claim. The Quran is the word of Allah, revealed to His Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and it is the ultimate truth. Their hearts are veiled from accepting it because of the accumulation of sins they have committed — for sin upon sin hardens the heart until it becomes blind to the truth.
On the Day of Judgment, these deniers will face a terrible reality: they will be veiled from seeing their Lord, deprived of the greatest honor and joy that the believers will enjoy — gazing upon the Face of their Creator in Paradise. Then they will enter the blazing Fire, suffering its intense heat, and it will be said to them: "This is the punishment you used to deny!"
A Call to Reflection and Faith:
Dear reader, let this verse awaken your heart. The Day of Judgment is not a myth or a distant possibility — it is an absolute certainty that will come to every single one of us. On that Day, no wealth, no status, no power will avail you. What will matter is your faith, your deeds, and your relationship with your Creator. Do not let the accumulation of sins harden your heart and blind you to the truth. Turn back to Allah today, before that Day arrives when no repentance will be accepted. The doors of mercy are wide open — seek forgiveness, embrace the truth of the Quran, and strive for the eternal bliss of seeing your Lord in Paradise. That is the ultimate success that no worldly pleasure can ever compare to.
