- Al-Raheem (الرَّحِيم): The Most Merciful; the One whose mercy encompasses all who turn to Him sincerely.
Explanation of the Verse:
Have those who lagged behind from jihad and other believers not come to know with certainty that Allah alone — with no partner — is the One Who accepts the repentance of His servants? When a servant sincerely turns back to Him, abandoning sin and resolving not to return to it, Allah welcomes that repentance and wipes away the past. He also accepts the charity (sadaqah) that His servants give, even though He is completely self-sufficient and in no need of it; rather, He receives it as a loving gesture from His servant and multiplies its reward beyond measure. And Allah is the Oft-Returning — His nature is to keep opening the door of forgiveness for those who come back to Him, no matter how many times they stumble — and He is the Most Merciful, showing gentleness and compassion to those who seek His pleasure and strive to obey Him.
This verse came as a beautiful reassurance after some people wondered: "How can those who repented be accepted back and welcomed into the community after what they did?" Allah answered clearly: repentance is not limited by human judgment — it is a divine gift. If the repentance is sincere, Allah accepts it, restores the person's dignity, and welcomes them back into the fold of His mercy. He also reminds us that charity is not lost; it is taken by Allah Himself, meaning it reaches Him and is preserved with Him, and He will reward it abundantly.
A Da'wah Reflection:
Dear reader, see how vast Allah's mercy is! He does not say, "I might accept repentance" — He says, "I accept it." He does not say, "I take charity" — He says it with absolute certainty, because He is the One Who guarantees the reward. No sin is too great, no past is too dark, and no heart is too far — as long as you turn to Him sincerely, He will turn to you with mercy. And when you give charity, know that it is not lost in the wind; it is held in the Hand of the Most Merciful, and He will return it to you multiplied on a Day when you need it most. So never despair, never hold back, and never think you are beyond His reach. His door is open, His mercy is vast, and His love for those who return to Him is beyond what any human heart can imagine. Come back to Him today — He is waiting for you.
