Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Yawma’idhin — On that Day (the Day of Resurrection).
  • Tuhaddithu — It will speak, narrate, or convey.
  • Akhbaraha — Its news, reports, or tidings (i.e., what took place upon it).

Explanation of the Verse:

On that momentous Day of Resurrection, the earth will not remain silent. It will speak and narrate its news — every deed, whether good or evil, that was done upon its surface. By the command of Allah, the earth will bear witness to the actions of every person: the prayers offered, the charity given, the kindness shown, as well as the wrongdoings, the neglect, and the harm inflicted. Nothing will be hidden or forgotten. The earth, which was a silent witness throughout your life, will suddenly be granted the power of speech by its Creator, and it will testify with perfect accuracy about all that occurred upon it. This is a manifestation of Allah’s absolute justice — that even the very ground beneath your feet will serve as a witness on that Day, leaving no excuse for denial.

A Call to Reflection and Action:

Dear believer, ponder deeply upon this profound truth: the earth you walk on every day is not a lifeless, indifferent entity. It is a witness that will speak on the Day when all secrets are exposed. Every step you take toward good — every prayer you offer, every act of kindness you extend, every tear you shed in humility before your Lord — will be recorded and testified to by the earth itself. Likewise, every sin committed in the shadows, every wrong done in secret, will be brought to light. This should fill your heart with both hope and caution. Hope, because your good deeds, even the smallest, are being preserved and will be honored. Caution, because no sin is truly hidden from Allah, and the earth itself will not conceal what you did upon it. Let this awareness transform your life: make every step upon this earth a step of obedience, mercy, and righteousness. Let the ground beneath you be a witness for you, not against you. And remember — the One who gave the earth the power to speak is the same Lord who hears your every supplication and sees your every effort. Turn to Him sincerely, and let your life be a beautiful testimony that will bring you joy on that awesome Day.
