Tafsir (Explanation):
When the caravan brought Yusuf (Joseph) to Egypt, the powerful minister known as Al-Aziz purchased him. Recognizing something noble and promising in this young man, he turned to his wife and instructed her: "Treat him with the utmost honor and kindness. Provide him with a comfortable and dignified place in our home. Perhaps he will bring us great benefit, or we may even adopt him as our own son." This was a remarkable act of compassion from a man of high status, and it was the beginning of Yusuf's rise from the depths of a well to the heights of power.
Allah then reveals the deeper truth behind these events: "And thus We established Yusuf in the land." This was not mere coincidence or human kindness alone—it was divine planning. Allah had a greater purpose: to teach Yusuf the interpretation of dreams and events, preparing him for a mission that would save an entire nation from famine. The heart of Al-Aziz was inclined toward Yusuf by Allah's will, just as the hearts of all people are in His hands.
The verse concludes with a profound and comforting truth: "And Allah is dominant over His command." No plan, no scheme, no obstacle can stand against what Allah has decreed. His will is absolute and His wisdom is perfect. He turns trials into triumphs, and darkness into light, in ways that people cannot foresee. Yet most people do not realize this—they see only the immediate causes and forget the ultimate Cause behind all causes.
A Da'wah Reflection:
This verse carries a powerful message of hope and trust in Allah's plan. Look at Yusuf (peace be upon him): thrown into a well by his own brothers, sold as a slave, and yet Allah turned this apparent disaster into a pathway to kingship. Never despair when life seems unfair or when doors close in your face. Allah's plan for you is greater than your current circumstances. He is the One who controls hearts, opens doors, and arranges affairs with perfect wisdom. When you are treated with kindness by others, recognize it as Allah's mercy working through them. When you face hardship, remember that Allah's command prevails—He can change your situation in the blink of an eye. The key is to remain patient, righteous, and trusting in Him, just as Yusuf did. For indeed, Allah is with those who are patient and He never abandons His righteous servants.
