Explanation of the Verse:
On the Day of Resurrection, Allah will raise from every nation a witness from among their own people—a prophet who was sent to them, speaking their language and living among them—to testify about what they did: whether they believed or disbelieved, obeyed or disobeyed. This is a manifestation of Allah’s perfect justice, for no people will be judged without a messenger having been sent to them with clear guidance.
Then Allah addresses His beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) with a great honor: He will bring him as a witness over his own nation—and indeed, over all the nations—because he is the final messenger, sent to all of humanity. His testimony will be comprehensive, confirming the truth of the previous prophets and their messages.
Allah then reminds the Prophet of the greatest gift given to him and his ummah: the revelation of the Qur’an. This Book was sent down as a clear explanation of everything—covering the rulings of what is lawful and unlawful, rewards and punishments, stories of the past, and news of the future. Whatever is mentioned in it briefly, the Prophet (peace be upon him) explained in detail through his Sunnah. It is a Book that leaves no excuse for anyone, for it addresses every matter of religion and worldly life that people need.
The Qur’an is also described as guidance—leading hearts out of the darkness of ignorance and misguidance into the light of faith and truth. It is a mercy for all who receive it, for through it, they attain happiness in this life and the next. And it is a glad tiding for the Muslims—those who submit to Allah with sincerity—announcing to them the everlasting bliss of Paradise and Allah’s eternal pleasure.
A Call to Reflection and Action:
Dear reader, contemplate the immense favor of Allah upon you: He sent you a Book that explains everything, guides you to the straight path, and brings you the most joyful news—the promise of Paradise. This is not a book of confusion or ambiguity; it is a light that illuminates your way in every affair. So hold fast to it, recite it with reflection, and act upon its teachings. Let it be your companion in this life, for it will intercede for you on the Day when no intercession will avail except by Allah’s permission. And remember: the witness of the Prophet (peace be upon him) over you is a call to be among those who testify to the truth with their words and their deeds, so that on that Day, you will be among the successful—receiving the glad tidings of eternal joy in the presence of your Lord.
