Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Fityah (فِتْيَةٌ): Young men, youths in the prime of their lives.
- Hudan (هُدًى): Guidance, insight, and firmness upon the truth.
Tafsir (Explanation):
We—O Messenger—relate to you their story with absolute truth and certainty, free from any falsehood or distortion. These were young men, not aged scholars or seasoned leaders, but youths in the bloom of their lives. Yet despite their youth, they possessed a profound clarity of heart and mind: they believed in their Lord with sincerity and submitted to His command. Because of their genuine faith, Allah increased them in guidance—strengthening their hearts, deepening their conviction, and granting them steadfastness upon the truth. Their faith was not a fleeting emotion but a firm foundation upon which they stood, even when the world around them pressured them to compromise.
This verse carries a powerful lesson for every believer, especially the young: true honor lies not in age, status, or numbers, but in sincere faith and unwavering commitment to Allah. When a person takes that first step toward Allah, Allah does not abandon them—He multiplies their guidance, illuminates their path, and fortifies their resolve. The story of the People of the Cave is a living proof that Allah honors those who honor Him, and that no power on earth can extinguish the light He places in the hearts of His sincere servants. So take heart, dear reader: if you turn to Allah with even a mustard seed of sincerity, He will meet you with oceans of guidance and support.
