Tafsir (Explanation):

This verse continues to describe the qualities of the truly righteous — those who have inherited success and guidance. After mentioning in the previous verse that they believe in the unseen, establish prayer, and give from what Allah has provided them, Allah now highlights two more of their noble characteristics.

First, they believe in what was revealed to you, O Muhammad — that is, the Qur'an and the prophetic Sunnah. They accept it wholeheartedly as the final and complete revelation from Allah, without questioning its authenticity or doubting its message. Their faith is not merely verbal; it is a deep, settled conviction that shapes their thoughts, words, and actions.

Second, they believe in what was revealed before you — meaning all the previous scriptures sent down to the messengers of Allah, such as the Torah given to Moses, the Gospel given to Jesus, the Psalms given to David, and the scrolls given to Abraham and others (peace be upon them all). They do not discriminate between the messengers or their books; rather, they affirm that all of them came from the same source — Allah, the One and Only — and that the Qur'an confirms and supersedes them all.

Third, they have absolute certainty in the Hereafter. They do not merely hope or guess that there is a life after death; they know it with unwavering conviction. This certainty is not a passive belief — it is a living reality that drives them to prepare for that day. They know that every deed, whether small or great, will be weighed, and that they will stand before their Lord to be judged with perfect justice. This certainty makes them mindful of their actions, eager to do good, and cautious of falling into sin.

The mention of the Hereafter here is especially significant because belief in it is one of the greatest motivators for righteous conduct. When a person truly believes that they will be held accountable and rewarded or punished accordingly, they take their responsibilities seriously. They strive to please Allah, avoid what He has forbidden, and constantly hold themselves to account.

These believers are the ones who combine faith in the unseen, devotion in worship, generosity in spending, acceptance of all divine revelations, and certainty in the final return to Allah. They are the ones who walk on the path of light, guided by the Qur'an, and they are the ones who will surely succeed in this life and the next.

A Da'wah Reflection:

Dear reader, reflect on the beauty of this verse. Allah is describing to us the character of those whom He loves and guides. Notice how faith here is not just a claim — it is a comprehensive way of life. It includes believing in the unseen, praying, giving, accepting all of Allah's revelations, and being certain of the Hereafter.

This verse invites you to examine your own heart: Do you believe in the unseen with certainty? Do you establish your prayers with sincerity? Do you give from what Allah has blessed you with? Do you accept the Qur'an and the previous scriptures as truth from Allah? Do you live your life with the awareness that you will meet your Lord?

If you find these qualities in yourself, then rejoice — for you are among the successful. And if you find yourself lacking, then know that the door of repentance and growth is always open. Allah loves those who turn to Him, and He is ever ready to guide those who sincerely seek His pleasure.

Let this verse be a mirror for your soul and a roadmap for your journey. Strive to embody these qualities, and you will taste the sweetness of faith and the peace that comes from certainty in Allah's promise. Indeed, the Hereafter is real, and the reward of those who believe and do good is nothing less than eternal bliss in the gardens of Paradise.

Indeed, those who disbelieve - it is all the same for them whether you warn them or do not warn them - they will not believe.
