In this noble verse, Allah Almighty addresses His two prophets, Musa and Harun, peace be upon them, with a clear and decisive command: "Go both of you to Pharaoh, for he has transgressed." This is not merely an invitation or a suggestion—it is a divine order to confront the greatest tyrant of their time.

The word "tagha" (transgressed) here is profound and comprehensive. Pharaoh had not merely committed sins; he had crossed every boundary imaginable. He declared himself a god, saying, "I am your lord, the Most High" (79:24). He enslaved the Children of Israel, slaughtered their sons, and spared their daughters. He corrupted the earth with his arrogance and rejected every sign of truth that came to him. His transgression was total—in belief, in action, and in his treatment of people.

Yet notice the beauty of this divine command: Allah did not send His prophets to Pharaoh with harshness or aggression. Instead, He commanded them to go to him and speak to him gently, as we learn from the following verse (20:44): "And speak to him with gentle speech, perhaps he may be reminded or fear [Allah]." This teaches us a profound lesson in da'wah (calling to Allah): even the most arrogant tyrant deserves to be addressed with wisdom and kindness, for the goal is to awaken his heart, not to provoke his ego.

This verse also carries a powerful message of hope and courage for every believer. Allah chose two men—one with a speech impediment (Musa) and one who was his older brother (Harun)—and sent them alone against the mightiest empire of their time. Yet they went without fear, because they carried the authority of Allah with them. When you are on the path of truth and obey Allah's command, no power on earth can stand against you.

A Call to Reflection and Action:

Dear reader, if Allah could command His prophets to face Pharaoh with courage and gentleness, what does that mean for you today? It means that no matter how great the challenges you face—whether it is a difficult family member, an oppressive society, or your own inner struggles—you are never alone. Allah is with you, and His command to you is to stand firm upon the truth, to call others to goodness with wisdom and beautiful preaching, and to never despair of Allah's mercy.

Pharaoh's end was destruction, despite all his power and arrogance. But Musa and Harun's end was victory and honor, despite their apparent weakness. This is the promise of Allah: "Indeed, the earth belongs to Allah; He causes to inherit it whom He wills of His servants. And the [best] outcome is for the righteous" (7:128). So take heart, trust in Allah, and move forward with the light of faith—for the transgression of the tyrants always fades, but the word of Allah remains exalted forever.
