Key Words and Phrases:

  • لَا تَخَافَا (lā takhāfā): "Do not fear" — addressed to both Moses and Aaron, calming their anxiety.
  • إِنَّنِي مَعَكُمَا (innanī ma'akumā): "Indeed, I am with you both" — signifying divine presence, support, and protection.
  • أَسْمَعُ (asma'u): "I hear" — Allah hears all that is said.
  • أَرَىٰ (arā): "I see" — Allah sees all that is done.

Explanation of the Verse:

In this profound moment, as Moses and Aaron stood before the tyrant Pharaoh, their hearts trembled with the weight of the mission entrusted to them. They feared the arrogance and brutality of a man who claimed divinity and commanded immense power. But Allah, in His infinite mercy and reassurance, spoke directly to calm their hearts: "Do not fear — indeed, I am with you both; I hear and I see."

This divine statement is a comprehensive promise of support. Allah is telling His two prophets that He is not distant or unaware; rather, He is fully present with them through His knowledge, power, and aid. He hears every word that will be exchanged between them and Pharaoh, and He sees every action and scheme that will unfold. Nothing escapes His awareness, and nothing happens without His permission. This is a guarantee that victory belongs to those who rely on Him, no matter how formidable the enemy may appear.

The verse also carries a timeless lesson for every believer: when you are upon the truth and acting in obedience to Allah, you are never alone. His hearing and sight are with you, and His support is sufficient. Fear dissipates when faith in Allah's presence fills the heart. Just as He reassured His prophets, He reassures His righteous servants in every age — that He is the best Protector, the best Helper, and that His promise of victory for the believers is true.

Da'wah Reflection:

This verse is a beautiful reminder of the intimate relationship between Allah and His believing servants. Imagine the scene: two men, unarmed and seemingly powerless, standing before the most powerful tyrant of their time. Yet, because Allah said "I am with you," their fear turned into courage, and their weakness into strength. This is the essence of tawakkul (reliance on Allah) — knowing that with Allah, no force on earth can prevail against you.

Dear reader, whatever trials you face in life — whether it be oppression, hardship, or the fear of standing up for the truth — remember this verse. Allah hears your supplications and sees your struggles. He is with you, just as He was with Moses and Aaron. So, place your trust in Him, speak the truth with confidence, and know that His promise of support is certain. This is the path to true peace and ultimate success, both in this world and the Hereafter.

And speak to him with gentle speech that perhaps he may be reminded or fear [Allah]."
They said, "Our Lord, indeed we are afraid that he will hasten [punishment] against us or that he will transgress."
[Allah] said, "Fear not. Indeed, I am with you both; I hear and I see.
So go to him and say, 'Indeed, we are messengers of your Lord, so send with us the Children of Israel and do not torment them. We have come to you with a sign from your Lord. And peace will be upon he who follows the guidance.
Indeed, it has been revealed to us that the punishment will be upon whoever denies and turns away.' "
