Word Meanings:

  • Taaba (تَابَ): Turned back in repentance from sin and disbelief.
  • Aamana (آمَنَ): Believed with sincere faith in Allah.
  • Amila salihan (عَمِلَ صَالِحًا): Performed righteous deeds, fulfilling obligations and avoiding prohibitions.
  • Ihtada (اهْتَدَى): Remained steadfast on the path of guidance and truth, persisting upon it until the end.

Explanation of the Verse:

In this profound verse, Allah — the Most Merciful — declares a promise of immense hope and reassurance to His servants. He says: "And indeed, I am the Most Forgiving to whoever repents, believes, and does righteous deeds, then remains guided."

This verse reveals the beautiful reality of Allah's mercy. He does not merely forgive — He describes Himself as *Ghaffar* (the Oft-Forgiving), a superlative form that indicates His forgiveness is abundant, repeated, and encompasses all sins, no matter how great or numerous. The conditions for attaining this forgiveness are clearly outlined:

First, repentance (tawbah): This means turning away from sin and disbelief with sincere regret, resolving never to return to it. It is the first step that opens the door to divine mercy.

Second, faith (iman): Sincere belief in Allah, His messengers, His books, and the Day of Judgment. Faith is the foundation upon which all good deeds are built.

Third, righteous deeds (amal salih): Acting upon one's faith by performing good works — fulfilling the obligatory acts of worship, treating others with kindness, and avoiding what Allah has forbidden.

Fourth, steadfastness (ihtida): Persisting upon this path of guidance until the end of one's life. This is not merely a momentary change but a continuous journey of staying upon the truth, following the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and remaining firm in faith despite trials and temptations.

The sequence of these conditions is significant — repentance opens the heart, faith fills it with light, righteous deeds manifest that light in action, and steadfastness ensures the believer remains upon this blessed path until meeting their Lord.

A Call to the Reader:

O beloved reader! Reflect upon the beauty of this divine promise. The Creator of the heavens and the earth — the One who is never in need of our worship — opens His door of forgiveness to us, His weak servants. He does not say "I will forgive" but rather declares His very essence as *Ghaffar* — the Oft-Forgiving. This is an invitation to every soul burdened by sin, every heart weighed down by mistakes, and every person who feels they have strayed too far.

No matter how many times you have fallen, His mercy is greater. No matter how heavy your sins, His forgiveness is more vast. The only condition is that you turn to Him sincerely, believe in Him wholeheartedly, act upon His commands, and remain steadfast upon His path.

This is the path to eternal success — a path that begins with a single step of repentance today. Do not delay, for you do not know when your time will come. Return to your Lord now, and let His promise of forgiveness be your source of hope and motivation. Indeed, Allah loves those who repent and purify themselves, and He is waiting with open arms of mercy for every soul that turns to Him.

📜 Verse 80-84 — Taha

O Children of Israel, We delivered you from your enemy, and We made an appointment with you at the right side of the mount, and We sent down to you manna and quails,
[Saying], "Eat from the good things with which We have provided you and do not transgress [or oppress others] therein, lest My anger should descend upon you. And he upon whom My anger descends has certainly fallen."
But indeed, I am the Perpetual Forgiver of whoever repents and believes and does righteousness and then continues in guidance.
[Allah] said, "And what made you hasten from your people, O Moses?"
He said, "They are close upon my tracks, and I hastened to You, my Lord, that You be pleased."
