Translation — Tafsir
Key Words and Their Meanings:
- Kutiba 'alayhi — It was decreed and ordained upon him (Satan).
- Man tawallāhu — Whoever takes him as an ally, follows him, or submits to his influence.
- Yudilluhu — He leads him astray from the path of truth and righteousness.
- Yahdīhi ilā 'adhābis-sa'īr — He guides him toward the punishment of the blazing Fire (Hell).
Explanation of the Verse:
This verse reveals a profound and settled truth: Allah, in His eternal wisdom and justice, has decreed that Satan's role and destiny are firmly established. It is written upon him that whoever chooses to follow him, ally with him, or place their trust in him, Satan will inevitably lead that person astray from the straight path of guidance. He will not guide them toward goodness or salvation; rather, he will steer them directly toward the punishment of the blazing Fire.
This decree is not a mere possibility but a certain and binding reality. Satan's very nature is to mislead, and his ultimate goal is to drag his followers into destruction. He beautifies falsehood, whispers doubts, and entices people toward disbelief and sin, all while making them feel that they are on the right path. Yet, the end result is always the same: a painful journey toward the scorching flames of Hell.
The verse serves as a stark warning to humanity. It tells us that the path of following Satan is a one-way road to ruin. No matter how attractive or convincing his calls may seem, the destination is fixed and terrifying. However, this warning is also a mercy from Allah — it gives us the clarity to choose wisely. We are not left in ignorance; we are told clearly who our enemy is and where his path leads.
A Call to Reflection and Action:
Dear reader, this verse is a divine beacon illuminating the reality of our choices. Allah, in His infinite mercy, has already exposed the enemy and his ultimate plan. He has told us that whoever follows Satan will be misguided and led to the Fire. So why would anyone choose such a fate? The answer is simple: because Satan makes his path appear attractive, while the path of faith requires patience, sacrifice, and trust in Allah.
But look at the contrast: while Satan leads his followers to the blazing Fire, Allah, the Most Merciful, calls us to His forgiveness, His paradise, and His eternal pleasure. The choice is ours, and it is a choice that will determine our eternal destiny. Let this verse awaken your heart. Do not let the whispers of Satan deceive you. Turn to Allah, seek His guidance, and hold firmly to His rope. For He is the One who guides to the light, and His promise of Paradise is far greater than any fleeting pleasure this world can offer.
May Allah protect us all from the misguidance of Satan and grant us the wisdom to follow the straight path that leads to His eternal bliss.
