Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Āyātinā (Our signs): The divine miracles granted to Prophet Moses (peace be upon him) as clear proofs of his prophethood.
- Sulṭānin mubīn (clear authority): A manifest, decisive proof that leaves no room for doubt—an overwhelming evidence that silences every opponent.
Tafsir (Explanation):
After mentioning the succession of earlier prophets and their peoples, Allah now turns to the story of Moses and Aaron (peace be upon them). He says: Then, after those messengers, We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our mighty signs—the nine miracles: the staff that turned into a serpent, the shining hand, the locusts, the lice, the frogs, the blood, the flood, the years of drought, and the shortage of fruits. These were not mere tricks; they were overwhelming proofs that conquered hearts and minds. The believing hearts submitted to them in humility, while the stubborn and arrogant found in them an undeniable argument against their defiance.
Allah sent them with a clear, shining authority—a decisive power of truth that left no excuse for anyone. They were sent to Pharaoh, the ruler of Egypt, and to his chiefs and nobles. But Pharaoh and his people, puffed up with pride and tyranny, refused to believe. They were a people who had transgressed all bounds, oppressing others and lording over them with cruelty and injustice.
This verse carries a profound lesson: Allah never leaves humanity without guidance. When darkness intensifies, He sends His light. When tyranny spreads, He raises His messengers with clear proofs. The miracles of Moses were not for entertainment—they were a mercy to guide the sincere and a decisive testimony against the obstinate.
Dear reader, reflect on this: the same Allah who sent Moses with such power is alive today, watching over His creation. He still sends His guidance to those who seek it sincerely. The Quran itself is the greatest miracle—a living, eternal proof that calls you to truth, justice, and salvation. Will you respond to its call as the believers of Moses did, or will you turn away like Pharaoh? The choice is yours, and the consequences are eternal. Open your heart to the light of faith, for Allah’s mercy is vast, and His guidance is available to all who sincerely seek it.
