Key Words and Their Meanings:

  • Nukallifu (نُكَلِّفُ): We burden or charge.
  • Wus'aha (وُسْعَهَا): Its capacity or ability — meaning what the soul can bear without undue hardship.
  • Kitabun yantiq-u bil-haqq (كِتَابٌ يَنطِقُ بِالْحَقِّ): A book that speaks with truth — referring to the Record of Deeds (the Preserved Tablet or the book of each person's actions) that testifies accurately and justly.
  • La yuzlamun (لَا يُظْلَمُونَ): They will not be wronged — meaning no injustice will be done to them, neither by decreasing their good deeds nor by increasing their sins.

Explanation of the Verse:

This noble verse brings immense comfort and reassurance to every believer. Allah, the Most Merciful and Just, declares that He never burdens any soul beyond its capacity. This is a profound manifestation of His divine mercy — every obligation He has placed upon us, whether in worship, morality, or daily life, is perfectly tailored to human ability. If a person is ill, they may pray seated; if unable to fast, they may break the fast; if unable to stand in prayer, they may pray lying down. Islam is a religion of ease, not hardship, and this verse is a living proof of that beautiful principle.

Then Allah assures us that every deed — whether great or small, hidden or apparent — is recorded in a book that speaks with absolute truth. This is the book of deeds, kept with Allah, written by the noble angels. Nothing is ever lost or forgotten. Every good word, every act of kindness, every moment of patience, and every tear shed in sincere devotion is meticulously preserved. This record will testify on the Day of Judgment with perfect accuracy, leaving no room for doubt or denial.

Finally, Allah declares that no one will be wronged. Those who did good will find their rewards complete, without any reduction. Those who erred will not have their sins exaggerated or inflated. The scales of divine justice are perfectly balanced, and the Lord of the Worlds is the Most Fair of all judges. This is a promise of absolute justice — a promise that brings peace to the hearts of the oppressed and hope to the souls of the striving believers.

A Da'wah Reflection:

Dear reader, let this verse fill your heart with hope and tranquility. Your Lord knows your limits better than you know yourself. He has not asked you to do the impossible — He has asked you to do what you can, with sincerity and love. And He has promised that not a single effort of yours will be wasted. Every prayer you offered, every charity you gave, every kindness you showed, and every struggle you endured for His sake is written in a book that speaks the truth. On the Day when all secrets are revealed, your good deeds will shine like stars, and you will find that Allah has been more generous to you than you could ever imagine. So strive with confidence, worship with joy, and never despair — for the Most Merciful does not burden a soul beyond its capacity, and He never lets the reward of the righteous be lost.

📜 Verse 60-64 — Al-Mu'minun

And they who give what they give while their hearts are fearful because they will be returning to their Lord -
It is those who hasten to good deeds, and they outstrip [others] therein.
And We charge no soul except [with that within] its capacity, and with Us is a record which speaks with truth; and they will not be wronged.
But their hearts are covered with confusion over this, and they have [evil] deeds besides disbelief which they are doing,
Until when We seize their affluent ones with punishment, at once they are crying [to Allah] for help.
