- صَرَّفْنَاهُ (Sarrafnahu): We distributed it and varied it — referring to the rain, or alternatively to the signs and proofs in the Qur'an.

- فَأَبَى (Fa-abā): Yet they refused and persisted.
- كُفُورًا (Kufūran): Ingratitude, denial, and rejection of the truth and blessings.
Explanation of the Verse:
Allah, in His infinite mercy and wisdom, tells us that He distributes rain among people — sending it to one land while withholding it from another, giving it at one time and not at another. This is not random; it is a deliberate arrangement so that those who receive the rain may recognize Allah's favor upon them and be grateful, and those who are deprived of it may turn back to Allah in repentance, hoping for His mercy. In this way, the alternation of rain serves as a living lesson for all of humanity.
Similarly, this verse also points to the way Allah varies His signs and proofs in the Qur'an — presenting arguments in different forms, repeating lessons, and diversifying guidance — so that every heart may find a way to reflect and every mind may find a door to understanding.
Yet, despite all this divine care and clarity, most people refuse to accept the truth. Instead of gratitude, they respond with denial. When rain falls, they attribute it to the stars or their own efforts, saying, "We were given rain because of such-and-such star," rather than acknowledging Allah as the true Giver. And when the signs of Allah are presented to them, they turn away in stubborn rejection.
This is the tragedy of the human condition: Allah opens the doors of mercy and guidance, but many choose to shut their eyes and hearts, persisting in ingratitude.
A Call to Reflection and Gratitude:
Dear reader, pause and look around you. The rain that falls, the earth that yields its crops, the air you breathe — all of these are not accidents. They are gifts from your Lord, sent to you out of His love and care. When you see the clouds gather and the rain pour down, let it remind you of the One who sends it. Let it soften your heart and move your lips to say, "Alhamdulillah — all praise is due to Allah."
Do not be like those who attribute blessings to anything other than their true Source. For when you recognize Allah's hand in every drop of rain and every moment of ease, your heart fills with love for Him, and that love draws you closer to Him. And when you face hardship or drought, let it turn you back to Him in sincere repentance, for He is the One who opens the gates of mercy.
The Qur'an itself is a mercy sent to guide you. Its verses are repeated and varied so that you may reflect. Do not let this treasure pass you by. Open your heart to it, and you will find in it light for your path, peace for your soul, and success in this life and the next.
Choose gratitude over denial, and reflection over neglect. For Allah's blessings are endless, and His mercy is vast — but the key to unlocking them is a heart that remembers and a tongue that thanks.
