Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- "An Arsila" – Send, release, or let go.
- "Ma'ana" – With us.
- "Bani Isra'il" – The Children of Israel (the descendants of Prophet Ya'qub, also known as Israel).
Tafsir (Explanation):
This verse is part of the message that Allah commanded Prophet Musa (Moses) and his brother Harun (Aaron) to deliver to Pharaoh. After Allah reassured Musa that Pharaoh would not be able to kill him and granted his request for Harun to accompany him as a supporter, He sent them both with clear miracles to Pharaoh and his people. Their mission was simple yet profound: to call Pharaoh to the worship of Allah alone and to demand the release of the Children of Israel from their bondage.
The command "Send the Children of Israel with us" was not merely a political request—it was a divine decree to end the oppression and enslavement of an entire nation. The Children of Israel were being subjected to unimaginable cruelty under Pharaoh's rule: their sons were slaughtered, their daughters were spared only for servitude, and they were forced into hard labor. Musa and Harun were sent to demand their freedom so they could worship Allah freely and travel to the sacred land (ash-Sham, the Levant) as Allah had ordained.
This verse carries a timeless lesson for all of humanity: the mission of the prophets was always to liberate people from tyranny, injustice, and false worship, and to guide them toward the worship of the One True God. It also highlights the importance of standing against oppression and speaking truth to power, even when the oppressor is as mighty as Pharaoh.
Da'wah Reflection:
Beloved reader, reflect on the beauty of this divine message. Allah did not send Musa alone—He sent him with his brother as a support, showing us the power of unity and mutual assistance in the cause of truth. When you stand for justice, when you free yourself and others from the chains of ignorance and sin, you are following in the footsteps of the prophets. Islam came to liberate humanity—from the worship of creation to the worship of the Creator, from the darkness of oppression to the light of justice. Let this verse inspire you to be a voice for the oppressed and a caller to the truth, just as Musa and Harun were. And know that Allah is always with those who strive in His cause, as He was with them.
