Word Meanings:

  • Anjayna: We saved/rescued (from destruction).
  • Allatheena amanoo: Those who believed (in Allah and His Messenger).
  • Wa kanoo yattaqoon: And they were mindful of Allah, guarding themselves against disbelief and sin by obeying His commands and avoiding His prohibitions.

Explanation of the Verse:

In this noble verse, Allah Almighty tells us about the fate of the people of Thamud, who rejected the message of Prophet Salih (peace be upon him) and persisted in their arrogance and transgression. When the divine punishment descended upon them—a mighty blast that destroyed the wrongdoers—Allah made a clear distinction between the guilty and the righteous. He saved those who had true faith in their hearts and whose actions reflected that faith through mindfulness of Allah (taqwa). These were Prophet Salih himself and the believers who followed him, who had submitted to Allah, obeyed His commands, and avoided His prohibitions. Their salvation was not a matter of luck or chance; it was the direct result of their faith and their conscious effort to live in accordance with Allah's guidance. They were saved from the humiliation of that worldly punishment, and they were also saved from the greater punishment of the Hereafter.

Reflection and Call to Faith:

This verse carries a profound and timeless lesson for every generation. It shows that Allah's mercy and protection are granted to those who believe and remain steadfast in righteousness. The people of Thamud had power, wealth, and magnificent structures carved into mountains, yet none of these availed them when Allah's decree came. What saved the believers was not their material strength but their spiritual connection to their Creator. This is a beautiful reminder that true success lies not in what we possess, but in what we hold in our hearts—faith in Allah and the determination to live by His guidance. Today, as you read this verse, know that the same promise applies to you: if you believe in Allah sincerely and strive to be among the mindful ones, He will grant you safety in this life and the next. He will guide you through trials, protect you from harm, and grant you a place in His eternal Paradise. So hold fast to faith, beautify your life with taqwa, and trust in Allah's promise—for He never fails those who turn to Him with sincere hearts.

📜 Verse 51-55 — An-Naml

Then look how was the outcome of their plan - that We destroyed them and their people, all.
So those are their houses, desolate because of the wrong they had done. Indeed in that is a sign for people who know.
And We saved those who believed and used to fear Allah.
And [mention] Lot, when he said to his people, "Do you commit immorality while you are seeing?
Do you indeed approach men with desire instead of women? Rather, you are a people behaving ignorantly."
