Surah Al-Qasas — Verse 22

Tafsir (Explanation):

After Musa (Moses, peace be upon him) fled from Egypt in fear for his life, having learned that the authorities were plotting against him, he set out on a long and perilous journey with no provisions, no guide, and no map. He traveled alone through the vast desert, heading toward the land of Madyan—a place he had never been to and whose route he did not know.

When he turned his face toward Madyan, leaving behind the dominion of Pharaoh, he did not rely on his own strength or knowledge. Instead, he turned to his Lord with a humble and hopeful supplication: "Perhaps my Lord will guide me to the straight path." He acknowledged his complete dependence on Allah, asking Him to show him the middle, upright way that would lead him safely to his destination. This was not a statement of doubt, but an expression of profound trust and hope in Allah's guidance, mercy, and care.

This moment reveals the beautiful character of Musa—a prophet who, despite his strength and intelligence, recognized that true guidance comes only from Allah. He did not panic or despair in his unfamiliar surroundings; rather, he placed his affairs in the hands of the Most Merciful, knowing that Allah never abandons those who turn to Him sincerely.

A Da'wah Reflection:

This verse carries a timeless lesson for every believer. When you find yourself in an unfamiliar situation—whether it be a new city, a difficult decision, or a challenging phase of life—remember the example of Musa. He was a stranger in a strange land, yet he did not let fear or uncertainty overwhelm him. Instead, he made du'a (supplication) and trusted in Allah's guidance.

How often do we face crossroads in life where we do not know which way to turn? The Quran teaches us that the key to finding the right path is not merely intellect or experience, but sincere reliance on Allah. When you say, "Perhaps my Lord will guide me," you open the door to divine assistance that transcends human planning. Allah, who guided Musa through the desert to an unknown land, is the same Allah who will guide you through the deserts of life—through confusion, hardship, and uncertainty—if you turn to Him with a sincere heart.

This verse also reminds us that even the greatest prophets needed Allah's guidance in their daily affairs. So how much more do we, with our limited knowledge and vision, need to constantly seek His direction? Make this du'a a part of your life, especially when you stand at the threshold of a new journey—whether physical, spiritual, or intellectual. Say with confidence: "Perhaps my Lord will guide me to the straight path," and watch how Allah opens doors you never imagined. For indeed, Allah's guidance is the greatest treasure a believer can possess, and He grants it generously to those who ask with humility and hope.
